Who we are

Representing 1.2 million practitioners, Professions for Good is a collaboration of the bodies responsible for the entry policy, professional standards and qualifications across many of the UK’s largest professions. We work together in the public interest to uphold:

  • Fair access and meritocracy
  • Professional standards and ethics
  • Fact- and practice-based public policy

Professions for Good is led by organisations which represent more than a million chartered professionals worldwide. We offer input to policy making, campaign on specific professional and public issues, and collect information and research surrounding the professions. What we want to achieve

Professions for Good’s aims and objectives include the following:

  • To raise the public awareness of the professions and the public benefit they confer
  • To re-establish a primary role for the professions in the deliberations of government, economic and social decision-makers
  • To advocate evidence-based policy formulation, “professionalism” and professional ethics
  • To become a first port of call for issues relating to the professional sector or where the professions are able to play a practical role

This will be achieved by engaging in more effective inter-body collaboration in order to share ideas, best practices and offer an open, collective voice to government in preserving the public interest.
